NBC Profile

Established in 1997 by the Dutch Consulate and a group of prominent Dutch businessmen, the Netherlands Business Council, commonly known as NBC, aims to provide a platform for its members to network, encourage and promote business links with the Netherlands. The NBC undertakes a wide range of activities with the objective to enhance business prospects and the exposure of the Dutch business community.

The NBC is a non-profit local association under UAE law working under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber. It is recognized by the UAE authorities as the representative body of Dutch companies and individuals operating in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The NBC operates independently and is financially self-sufficient. The NBC has experienced significant growth over the last decade. From a handful pioneering entrepreneurs and career expatriates, the NBC has grown to roughly 300 entrepreneurs, managers and executives of all age groups. Many of whom regularly call on any of our 30 plus annual events.

Target Groups

Its privileged position brings the NBC into contact with four broad target groups each able to provide quick and easy access to business contacts and up-to-date information on business:

1.	Dutch businesses and professionals (those that operate or have interest in the region)
	The NBC arranges events aimed at improving Dutch companies' and Dutch professionals’ prospects in local markets.
2.	Foreign businesses and professionals (non-Emirati entities that operate in the region)
	The NBC actively engages with and participates in activities arranged by other business councils and likeminded groups with the aim to promote and encourage Dutch business links into the wider local and regional economies.
3.	Public-sector organizations in the UAE
	The NBC liaises with and participates in activities organized by organizations in the public sector with the aim to represent and support the interests of the Dutch business community.
4.	The Dutch government
	The NBC actively engages and maintains relations with the commercial section of the Dutch diplomatic missions with the aim to advance development of Dutch business in the United Arab Emirates.

Events

Simplicity, amenability, and consistency are themes central to any of the events organized by the NBC. The objective of our events is to bring substance and interaction together in an informal and inspiring setting.

‘Borrels’ every first Sunday, quarterly executive luncheons, and dinner get-togethers provide different mediums for members and guests to discuss their views and concerns. Guest speakers from the Dutch Government, the Dutch commercial world, and the UAE Government, together with local business personalities, are invited to speak at these functions and take questions.

Through the Dubai Chamber and associated Business Councils and Business Groups we are given access to further networking events, trainings, seminars and exhibitions, each event providing in its own right business prospects, a chance to share experiences and access to possibly valuable information.

Promotion and Communication

Besides its events the NBC promotes its views and objectives through its publications: the NBC Directory, the NBC website and the monthly electronic Newsletter.

The NBC Directory is a major annual publication that lists the entirety of NBC Members in details. The Directory is circulated widely to our network of Dutch and international organizations, which include embassies, Chambers of Commerce, local business support offices, trade representative associations and, needless to say, trade and industry.

The NBC Newsletter is a monthly electronic mail format newsletter and a practical vector of local information open to all NBC members. Directly dispatched to more than 300 recipients, the news-letter also provides information on current issues in the Dutch- UAE business and NBC news and events.
